Belarus - 10 february 2012

From Belarus I received this card. It's a painting showing the independence avenue in Minsk. Unfortunately there is no name of the painter on the card.

The stamps, printed in 2008 btw, are really nice, too.

Russia - 4 february 2012

That day I got a second postcard, too, this time from Russia. It's showing the river Vologda and the Kremlin's square.

On the card was the following little poem:

Dame Trot and her cat
sat down for a chat;
The dame sat down on this side

and puss sat down on that.
Puss, says the Dame,
can you catch a rat
or mouse in the dark
Purr, says the cat.

Netherlands - 4 february 2012

This card is showing Gasselte in the Netherlands. It's located in the country's north. The postcrosser I got this from is a retired postman so it's not surprising that I got a nice stamp on this card, too!

Russia - 11 january 2012

As I love rubber ducks, I was very happy to receive this card from Russia, as well as the stamps on it! I think the hare was new to me...

Ukraine - 17 august 2011

From Ukraine I got two postcards that day. Both are showing places in Kharkiv. The first one shows the monument of T.G. Shevchenko, who was an Ukrainian poet. The second one is the Liberty Square - according to the postcard it's the biggest one in Europe and a symbol of pride for the Ukrainians.

The stamps are really nice, too, though I'm not too sure what kind of vase they aer showing or what they might mean.

Russia - 4 august 2011

This card is called ' The Three Princesses of the Underground Kingdom', painted by Victor Vasnetsov 1879-1881. It's being showed in the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. It's a really cool card. Quite mysterious.

The stamps are showing a fox, the Kreml and an apparently famous russian person, but I must admit that I don't recognize him at all. Some help here?

Netherlands - 3 august 2011

Yes, true, it's Brussels. Yes, my scanner cut off the lower half. Yes, it's really from the Netherlands.
Anyway: I love the card. Map cards are awesome. This one is showing the highlits of the city. Nice, hm?

The 44-cent-stamp wasn't a newbie for me, but the Rotterdam-one was. A really nice one. Btw, did you all know that in Dutch 'Netherlands' is only 'Nederland' (=Singular)?

Finland - 27 july 2011

Ever received a winter themed card in july? Well, I did. It came from Savonlinna, Finland. I like snowy scenes, so I really enjoyed it, though it mus say that the stamps were even more awesome.

Anybody ever seen those stickers for 10 cents? They are just so cool! Honestly! They were printed in 2008 btw, the big stamp in 2011.

US - 26 july 2011

Anybody ever heard about the Bunny Suicides? I LOVE those cards. Seriously. This came from Kansas, USA. Awesome, I must say!

The stamps is one that seems to be on almost every letter/card from over there, but I still like it a lot.

Russia - 6 june 2011

This card is showing the Borodinsky bridge in Moscow, Russia. I have never been to Russia, so I can't tell if the architechture is typical for this country. Maybe somebody here knows?

I really enjoyed the stamps, too, The first one is showing a boy readin a book, the second one is some kind of church, I'd guess. My Russian is too rusty to identify it all. :)

Russia - 14 may 2011

This awesome Disney card arrived from Moscow, Russia. Isn't it awesome? I really enjoyed it, as I totally love Disney (and the Snow White movie, as a matter of fact). It was printed in 1998, but you can apparently still buy it there.

It travelled 26 days. The stamps weren't taht bad, either. The Kreml-one I already new, but the tiger was one I haven't seen before, probably as it was printed 2005 if I got it right.

Blogfrenzy?

I quite feel like a bad blogger. :P Acutally it has been about a year since the last entry and yesterday I decided it is about time to take up with blogging again. So here I am, hopefully succeeding to keep on blogging a tiny bit longer than last time. While going through some of my old mail I found this card I got from a Finnish friend of mine some while ago. I got no idea why I never blogged it, so here it is now. It's showing Kuopio, in Nothern Savonia, Finland.

Now let's hope I will blog soon again. You never know. :P

Russia - 18th of april 2011

I know, I know, it's been way too long for me to blog but I seriously hadn't got the time. As I received this wonderful postcrossing card from Tomsk today, I couldn't keep it to myself (not that I received any nice mail at all the past weeks, just bills. -.- ).

It is showing a Russian-German culture centre that used to be the house of a merchant in the city of Tomsk.

Plus the stamps are lovely!

Postcards: Sweden

Today I received a postcard from Sweden. It came from Sälen, Dalarna, showing a green Dalahorse, winter pictures and the dogs my scanner wanted to cut off all the time -.-

The stamp is one from the Royal series. :)

Incoming postcard: the Netherlands

Today I received a postcard a friend of mine sent me from the Netherlands when she was on a mini-vacation there. It's quite a shame the scan turned out so bad because it is a really cool card that is changing pictures, depending on the angle you're looking at it. So you can only see the four small pictures (I really love the owls! And you canf ind sheep on it as well! :D ) and not the big one with the landscape.

And then there was this nice stamp on it:

Letters: Poland

Today I was very happy to find a letter from my penfriend from Poland who had been living in the UK for quite a long while and returned home now. I was very glad to get it and it was a surprise as she attached some postcards for me as well!

That is the stamp showing a bit from the city of Częstochowa (whatever the proper English transcribition is) in Poland.

This card is showing London, UK, with the probably most famous sight - the Big Ben! The Houses of Parliament are on the picture, too, but I have never been in there, to be honest.

The second card she sent me is from the city of Brighton, showing the Brighton Pier and the West Pier. I love the atmosphere the card is projecting, even though my penfriend explained, that it wasn't that idyllic but more or less lots of partying and clubbing.

Mail-Mix, 100th entry and Taiwan - 3rd of february 2011

It has been a while since my last entry but I have been in somewhat mailheaven. I received two letters and one of them had an awesomely huge amount of postcards in there:

The four viewcards are showing Dalarna. Beutiful and snowy, isn't it? The Spaghetti-Operan-card is advertising for live opera with dinner. Apparently they play Mozart, whatever that has to do with Spaghetti. :D Hjärtslag is a movie advertisement. Hur stor är din värld? (How big is your world?) is advertising for newpapers.

My favourite is definitely the PUSS!-one. :) It is from a medication-company. But so cute! :D

Then my family went to a food-exhibition in Berlin and brought quite a huge pile of cards!

These are shwoing Tallinn, Estonia, which is going to be one of the cultural capital cities in 2011 now together with Turku, Finland, a card from the dinosaur park in Münchenhagen, cows (and their race is actually endangered :( ), a healthtourism card (the woman), the green card is showing biological products and the 'ehrlich' (=honest) is also for support of biological food.

Both cards with the white background are fairtrade-cards and the bright green ones are supporting tanking gas. Don't ask me for the proper English name right now :P But it is good for the environment.

The two cards showing are man are showing King Ludwig and are advertisements for a new exhibition called 'Götterdämmerung' at Schloss Herrenchiemsee. Quite sad that I live too far away from it. The other cards are showing words in Schweitzerdeutsch, spoken in Switzerland.

This card is the card from Taiwan I got. It is showing a place called Jiu Fen and the picture was taken about 40 years ago. I love pictures like that. They create a certain feeling.

The stamp is a commemorative stamp to the 100th birthday of the president Chiang Ching-Kuo (1910-1988) and it was issued in 2009.

Last but not least I got a letter from my dear penfriend from Finland and it had the following stamp on it.

So this was it, blog-entry 100. Yay! :D

China - 27th of january 2011

I like surprises. So was this card. It was on it's way from Shanghai for over 300 days! Almost a year. Luckily I still got it. :) It is showing the Taipingqiao Green Belt.

The stamps are very nice, too. I like the water in the earth. :)

Plus it seems like we have another reader! Welcome, Saami! :)

Finland - 25th of january 2011

Today I received this wonderful postcard from Finland. I love the snow!

And the cute stamp, too!

Italy - 5th of january 2011

My first postdcrossing card of the year is from Italy. It's an advertisement to an exhibition in Forlì.

And this stamp that came along with it is so cute!

And I'm a bit pissed on the German Post. They raised their prices again. -.- Not nice for mail loving people here...
